He served five years as Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries at Grace Church in Dayton, Ohio.  Sean is the former Program Director of the Community Initiative to Reduce Gun Violence and Community Police Council for the City of Dayton’s Human Relations Council.  He was the Director of Youth Initiatives for Community Action Partnership (CAP) of the Greater Dayton Area for nearly a decade.  He oversaw vital youth and family programs for this organization, including the CAP Youth Empowerment Center, a winner of two best practice awards.

Sean has served on various governing boards and advisory committees, including The Mentoring Collaborative of Montgomery County, Miami Valley Child Development Centers (MVCDC), and the Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction & Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) board.  His professional leadership and personal example have helped pave a brighter future for youth and aspiring professionals.  Sean’s willingness to lead has earned him several awards, including a Parity Inc.— Top Ten African American Male Award, the Mentoring Collaborative of Montgomery County— (inaugural) John E. Moore Champion For Youth Award, and recognition for programmatic excellence.

He has steered organizations to engage youth and help them succeed in life and the classroom.  Sean brings a wealth of knowledge and resources to efforts that empower young people, adults, families, and entire communities.  Sean’s work includes training, presentations, workshops, and program design grounded in faith, awareness, advocacy, action, and effective social engagement.

Once a nervous seventeen-year-old dad, Sean has grown comfortable as a proud grandfather and the loving father of Civil Rights Attorney Sean L. (Jennifer) Walton and Sherrun L. Walton, FNP-C.  He has also gained quite a collection of bonus children over the years through mentoring.  He believes growth comes easiest through truth, compassion, empathy, and authentic relationships.
